Challenge
Despite having a strong finance team in place prior to 2012, the financial and performance reporting processes at Wessanen left a lot to be desired. They were using Oracle Hyperion Enterprise, an enterprise performance management (EPM) system, to generate large amounts of raw financial and operational data from across the business. They were then converting this data into basic Excel spreadsheets for our Financial Planning and Analysis function to work on.
It meant having to juggle lots of different data sheets across the department, each potentially resulting in variances or misalignments.
The financial team spent a lot of time each month purely on controls and checking that the basic data was correct. Even then, errors regularly found their way into reporting cycles.
The report distribution processes were also lacking. With Excel, each report had to be physically printed off and sent to the relevant people across the organization.
Solution
Wessanen recognized they needed to drastically streamline processes and create a more consistent, efficient reporting environment. After investigation, the decision-making process led them toward CXO Software.
The CXO Software reporting dashboards allow the team to visualize and modify the information in front of them as they need. The data in the dashboard can be set up according to their particular preferences, enabling them to dive deep into the data and perform in-depth breakdowns and analysis.
CXO Software processes the data directly from the underlying EPM source system into executive-friendly, dynamic, tailor-made reports. It means that the executive board in Amsterdam now has access to the latest financial results whenever and wherever they need it.
From a productivity perspective, the introduction of CXO Software has been a game changer. Within the Finance function, they no longer have to spend hours each day sifting through spreadsheets trying to locate the right information from mounds of data.
