Does Your Current Approach to Budgeting Feel Disorganized and Flawed?

Custom Reports Are Expensive

Microsoft Dynamics Isn’t Made to Control the Budgeting Process

Between design, collaboration, approvals, and execution, there are numerous moving parts to the budgeting process that start before you can get the numbers into Microsoft Dynamics.

Manual Processing

Manual Spreadsheets are Full of Errors and Impossible to Reconcile

Microsoft Excel is a familiar tool, but disparate spreadsheets can’t be regulated. Manual data input is risky and takes a lot of time from high-value resources to resolve.

Human Error Prone

Your People are Burning Out on Time-Consuming Tasks

A chaotic, disorganized approach to budgeting sucks time from managers and executives who should be building and executing effective strategies, not collecting and reconciling spreadsheets.

Frequently Asked Questions

Jet Budgets is a web-based solution for streamlining and controlling the budget creation and fiscal planning process. Jet Budgets enables collaboration, improves accuracy, and saves time for budget owners at small and medium businesses whose current budgeting process requires managing multiple spreadsheets that can be messy, error prone and time consuming. Jet Budgets is built to integrate with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, NAV, and GP immediately.

Jet Budgets was designed for small and medium businesses (SMB) that use Dynamics 365 Business Central, Dynamics NAV or Dynamics GP.  Jet Budgets is the right tool for anyone who creates or is involved in the budgeting process and struggles with reconciling and managing disparate and inconsistent spreadsheets that aren’t governed or controlled. Jet Budgets enables automated assignment workflows, and status visibility to streamline the budgeting process through the Jet Hub while utilizing the power of Jet Reports for integrated actual-to-plan reporting in an Excel environment users are already familiar with.

Jet Budgets was designed to fill a gap in the Microsoft Dynamics market between costly, complex Corporate Performance Management tools that have many functions most SMB companies don’t need, and the manual budgeting process that involves disorganized Excel spreadsheet management. While CPMs are targeted at mid to large-scale enterprises to provide complex financial solutions, Jet Budgets offers the right features and functionality for small to medium businesses without over-complicating the process or solution.

Jet Budgets was deliberately designed to work with Jet Reports for a familiar and seamless reporting environment.  By leveraging the power of Jet Reports with Jet Budgets, users can quickly and easily compare actuals with budgets, compare multiple budgets, and report on financial performance in the format they need.

Jet Budgets is a turnkey, out-of-box solution that takes minutes to get up and running, not hours or days.  Additionally, one of the advantages of using Jet Budgets is that configuration does not pose a huge administrative burden on a company nor does it incur large technical resource costs.

Yes. Jet Budgets was purpose-built for immediate integration with Dynamics 365 Business Central, NAV and GP. Budget numbers can be written directly back into Dynamics using the native import functionality of each system.

Jet Budgets was designed to work with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Dynamics NAV version 2013 and later, and Dynamics GP version 9 or later.

Jet Budgets requires Jet Reports as well as access to the Jet Hub. Jet Budgets works with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, NAV 2013 and later and GP.  It does not work with older versions of NAV.

Technical requirements for Jet Reports and the Jet Hub are available on our Help Center.

Jet Budgets provides the following features and functionality to create fast and flexible budgets.

  • Web-based budgeting platform through the Jet Hub
  • Flexible budget structure with user-created templates
  • Supports all existing GL accounts, dimensions, and segments
  • Input of budgeting data in web or controlled Excel spreadsheets
  • Workflow management, including assignment creation, notifications, commenting, and attachment support
  • Reporting via Jet functions with Jet Reports
  • Upload to Dynamics 365 Business Central, Dynamics NAV, and Dynamics GP

Jet Budgets was designed to work with Jet Reports and currently is not sold as a separate, stand-alone product.

Jet Budgets users will need to be set up in the Jet Hub so they can log in and use the tool.  If the Jet Budgets user is also going to be pulling data to help them with budgets or run a report using Jet Reports then they will need access to that Dynamics data source with a Jet Reports license. In many cases, the budget creator/owner will provide the budget contributor with an Excel file that contains data they will need for their piece of the budget.  In that case, they don’t need to have access to the Dynamics data source through Jet Reports, and subsequently, will not need a Jet Reports license.

The Help Center is available 24/7 with a section dedicated to Jet Budgets, including video tutorials and how-to articles.

Any questions not answered by our articles and videos in the  Help Center can be addressed by requesting personalized support. We typically respond in less than 24 hours (usually faster!)

Jet Budgets will respect all the data security settings that have been configured in your Microsoft Dynamics ERP and the Jet Administration Console.  Users that don’t have permission to use Jet Reports can be set up as users within Jet Budgets in the Jet Hub, where permissions for them can be set.

Permissions for individual budget contributors can be set within the Jet Hub so that they only see the items assigned to them.  Additionally, a budget owner or creator can only see the budgets they’ve created.

Non-financial values can be used in the budgeting process (ie: quantities, units, etc.) to help arrive at the financial numbers that are stored in Jet Budgets. This would be handled with Excel entry and uploaded to the Jet Hub.

Unlike managing multiple Excel files, Jet Budgets consolidates the budgeting process in one place. Jet Budgets has collaboration and workflow features that Excel does not have in order to control the data input and streamline the reconciliation process.  Unlike Excel, reports can be produced using Jet Reports and imported into Dynamics 365 Business Central, Dynamics NAV or Dynamics GP.

The budgets in NAV or GP have rigid, hierarchical budget structures whereas the budget structure in Jet Budgets is customizable to meet the needs of the business and your preferred budgeting methodology (top-down, bottom-up, zero-based, etc.).  Jet Budgets support workflow and collaboration whereas NAV or GP budgets do not.  Jet Budgets also supports all dimensions and segments in the ERP system (unlike NAV and Business Central which only support budgeting by 4 dimensions).  Finally, Jet Reports can be used to produce reports that integrate with Jet Budgets.

Of course! That is the benefit of the Jet Reports and Jet Budgets integration. A report can be run comparing actuals to budget by using the Jet functions. By pulling actuals from your database using the Jet GL function and getting numbers directly from Jet Budgets using the new GL Jet Budgeting function, a report can be run comparing the two. Report templates can be found in our Resource Library.
