Controller Simplifies Power BI Setup with Jet Analytics & Starts Building Dynamics NAV Dashboards in 2 Minutes!
By connecting Power BI to their existing Jet cubes, Inovonics was able to save time and valuable resources on implementation
Inovonics, the industry leader in wireless sensor networks for commercial and life safety applications, has been using Jet Analytics to create reliable reports from Dynamics NAV since 2014. With a number of non-technical users across the organization, the decision was made to invest in the flagship data visualization tool from Microsoft for enhanced dashboards, Power BI. Controller, Andrea Riviezzo, was tasked with the role of Power BI implementation. After attending a training course, she quickly realized how complicated it would be to set up the data models for Dynamics NAV to use Power BI, especially in their system that housed over 5000 tables. Not only that, the risk of pulling the wrong data was high, and could result in a lot more quality control and maintenance than expected.
Faced with the troublesome and time-consuming task of integrating and organizing the Dynamics NAV data, Andrea found an easier way– by connecting Power BI to the cubes already built in Jet Analytics. In what would have taken multiple days, it took Andrea 2 minutes to point to the Analytics cubes and start building dashboards. “All the data was already there so I just went in, decided what fields I wanted to see from the cube and Jet Analytics refreshed automatically,” describes Andrea. For Andrea, it was important to get Power BI up and running accurately, without complexities. Now, the Jet solutions continue to make her job a little easier every day, by getting her the information she needs and giving her trust that the data is reliable and up-to-date. As she puts it, “Jet Analytics gives me the confidence to quickly get accurate information, without having to do data manipulation or additional checks.”
It was a huge relief to be able to hook up Power BI to Jet and avoid the complicated Dynamics NAV database setup usually required. All the hard work was already done for me!
