After going live with Dynamics NAV at the beginning of 2015, Drew quickly become frustrated with the lack of data visibility. Every time he needed a report, financial or operational, his vendor at the time would have to write it. The externally built reports were expensive, at least $1000 or more each, took weeks to write, weren’t adaptable, and never provided Drew, or the business, with what they needed. They had limited insight as to what regional ventures were profitable, which sales people were performing, or how much they were spending – all key pieces to building a successful winery. Their new Dynamics ERP system was streamlining the data in, but the lack of reporting flexibility was inhibiting their ability to make the quick, strategic decisions in one of the most competitive industries in the world. Drew knew there had to be a better way.
Drew approached DXC Eclipse to explain his hindrances with reporting and was introduced to Jet Analytics. After immediately seeing the value it would add to their operational capability, the winery was able to quickly implement Jet Analytics alongside a Dynamics upgrade with their new vendor. Being integrated inside Excel, it didn’t take long for Drew to start building all the reports he needed without having to rely on a third-party resource. From sales performance broken down by any division, sales person, product, or cost center, to obtaining direct selling expense insight he could never see before – Drew can now provide the data that allows the winery to make impactful decisions about the who, what, when, and where to sell wine. He schedules over 40 reports every single month that are automatically run and then distributed to 5 divisions all over the country, lending insight to key contributors in making important revenue-driving decisions. Michael David Winery has grown 30% in selling volume over the last two years and is now in the Top 30 wineries nationally – all without the need to add personnel to the headquarter operational finance team.
“With Jet Global’s reporting and analytics solutions, we just have so much more insight into everything and we leverage that for all sorts of important decisions, like pricing, because now we have really clear data on what we are spending. Seeing gross margin isn’t enough for this business; I need to see all the factors that go into the expense of selling wine and now I can.”
